The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Allowing Mistakes

Have you had the experience of making corrections in life? A couple of years ago my tires on my car were not wearing correctly. I took my car to a repair shop and found out the wheels were out of alignment. Because the wheels were out of alignment, they caused the tires to wear unevenly. I needed to make corrections. The problem was resolved by correcting the alignment and replacing the tires.

Life is like that. We may find ourselves in a place that is not a good one. We may have made poor decisions and now have found ourselves out of alignment with the Lord. Maybe this is where you are today, and the Lord is calling you to come to Him and seek His face. The Lord loves when His children humble themselves and come to Him and are open to making changes in their life that will bring restoration into their lives. The Lord is all about restoration.

King Josiah Pledged to Make Corrections

As they repaired the Temple, they found the book of the law, or the first five books of our Old Testament. As a result of reading this, King Josiah knew God wanted to bring restoration to His people.

2 Kings 22:1Then the king summoned all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. And the king went up to the Temple of the Lord with all the people of Judah and Jerusalem, along with the priests and the prophets—all the people from the least to the greatest. There the king read to them the entire Book of the Covenant that had been found in the Lord’s Temple. The king took his place of authority beside the pillar and renewed the covenant in the Lord’s presence. He pledged to obey the Lord by keeping all his commands, laws, and decrees with all his heart and soul. In this way, he confirmed all the terms of the covenant that were written in the scroll, and all the people pledged themselves to the covenant. [1]

God Wants to Bring Correction to Our Lives

Do you need to make corrections in your life? If we humble ourselves before the Lord and ask the Lord, He will gently reveal to us corrections that we need to make. As we seek the Lord, we will discover that that Lord will not only show us things we need to change, but He will help us along the way. Perhaps I need patience and so the Lord prompts me to pray for more. He may put me into a position to practice my patience.

We may need to grow in humility and ask God to help us. Don’t be surprised if a situation develops in your life that brings humility. Corrections are not an easy time in our lives but necessary to help us be the kind of person the Lord wants us to be. We can be thankful the Lord is interested in our spiritual growth and refines us through daily life experiences.
