Warning, the enemy has traps. Here’s an example. There was a time in my life where my job took most of my time as I pursued the corporate ladder. I did well financially and had career success, but there was cost. I was often gone and was not present to celebrate my children’s birthdays because I was out of town on business.
This went on for several years until the Lord called me out of that profession. In hindsight, I had fallen into a trap. My job had become an idol. Like the prodigal son I finally came to my senses as the Holy Spirit worked in my heart. It was not my intention to fall into a trap because a trap is not obvious.
The Lord Used King Josiah to Remove Satan’s Traps
In the days prior to and during the reign of King Josiah the people had drifted away from the Lord. Because they had drifted away from the Lord, they lost their spiritual compass and easily fell into traps placed by satan. But Josiah changed all of that when the book of the Law (the first five books of the Bible) was discovered when the temple was restored.
2 Kings 23:24 Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods, the idols, and every other kind of detestable practice, both in Jerusalem and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience to the laws written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’s Temple. 25 Never before had there been a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since. [1]
Rely on the Lord to Avoid the Enemy’s Traps
How do we keep out of the enemies’ traps? The Apostle Paul gives us great insight in Ephesians 6:10-19 on putting on the full armor of God. We must be equipped with faith in Jesus as our Savior. As a warrior for the Lord, we must spend time in God’s word, and prayer. When we do, we will know what the truth is and be able to defend ourselves against the fiery darts of the enemy who wants to deceive and destroy us. Mediums and psychics are popular today as they were then, but when we put on the full armor of God, we will see them as they are. They are traps that the enemy uses to destroy and lead us astray.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for speaking to me. I hear your voice. Help me God to see the traps of the enemy a mile away. Help me not to be ignorant of what he’s trying to do. You are my deliverer. Help me to maintain my deliverance that I received through Jesus. Open my eyes to see and my ears to hear. I rebuke every seducing spirit, and I choose to keep my heart and mind stayed on you. In Jesus name, Amen.[2]
