God sends angels to ordinary people, but we don’t think of this very often. We think only important people like those in the Bible receive angel visits, and we are not special enough for a visit.
Angels minister to people in the invisible realm who will one day be in heaven. We may never see or beware of angels working in our life, but they are they constantly carrying out God’s assignments all around us. The Lord gives us insight into the work of angels. Hebrews 1:14Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.
Mary, the Mother of Jesus, Was Visited by an Angel
The day the angel came and visited Mary was just an ordinary day, but it would be one that would change her life. Luke 1:26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” Can you imagine Mary’s shock when the angel Gabriel told her she would have a child conceived by the Holy Spirit who would be Jesus the Son of God?
God’s Angels are at Work When We Don’t Realize It
One of my friends was working on a semi-truck when a jack failed, and he was severely injured as the truck fell on him. Suddenly, he was in severe pain as several tons of steel pinned him to the concrete. Not long after that his spirit left his body, and he was able to observe his body lying motionless under the truck. While his spirit was outside of his body, he observed two angels kneeling over his body. One angel was on one side and one on the other. Then, a few minutes later a medic began to work on him, and his spirit returned to his body. At this point he could no longer see the angels. Even though he could no longer see the angels, that did not mean they had left.
God’s Angels are Around You
Think how important you are to God for Him to place angels in your life! They are always at work around God’s children caring for those who will inherit salvation. 1 John 3:1See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!
