How do we act when God’s plan intersects our lives? As you read this you may not be aware that God has a plan for your life. I did not realize God had a plan for my life until I became more mature in faith. The Apostle Paul tells us about God’s plan.
Ephesians 2:8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Before you were even born the Lord had a detailed plan for your life. God has placed you on this earth for a specific purpose in His divine will. God had a plan for Mary, the mother of Jesus, and He also has an important plan for you.
God’s Plan for Mary Intersected Her Life
Mary was leading an ordinary life and was just a regular person of faith. Until the angel Gabriel visited her, she had no idea part of God’s plan for her life was to give birth to the Son of God.
Luke 1:26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” 29 Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. When the Angel came to Mary, God’s plan intersected her life and her life would never be the same.
When God’s Plan Intersects Your Life
Have you had the Holy Spirit nudge you to do something, not do something, or been convicted of sin? This is all part of God’s plan intersecting your life. You may be contemplating a decision in your life and are praying for God’s guidance and wisdom. You may be going along in life and suddenly the Lord closes a door that causes you to rearrange your life.
I believe if we look back at our lives, we will see the hand of God everywhere. Why? God’s plan for your life is intersecting your plan. I believe the Lord is continually redirecting our lives, so we get on the right path and if we get off, He helps us get back on.
Thank You, Lord, You direct my path even when I am not aware of it. Give me a heart like Mary who, when confronted with your plan, did not hesitate to follow you. Amen
