How can we be highly favored by the Lord? Am I favored by the Lord, or is that just a few select people you would read about in the Bible? You are favored by the Lord if you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Many Christians believe they must somehow earn the favor of God, but the truth is, we already have His favor. God saved us because of His favor toward us.
John 1:12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. [1] To believe in Jesus is to be a child of the King. Wow! That is amazing.
Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was Favored by the Lord
The angel gave Mary some insight into how God viewed her. Luke 1:26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” 29 Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.[2]
Can you imagine what was going through Mary’s mind as she was listening to the angel speak to her? What an honor to receive such an angelic visit with such amazing news.
God is Searching for Someone to Bless with His Favor
When someone is led by the Holy Spirit to place their faith in Jesus, doors begin to open for them that they may not be aware of. One of those doors is God’s favor. When God transforms us, we in turn, have an opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus. As they believer they become blessed and favored by God.
Remember that God’s favor can change everything in your life. He can transform anydifficult situation you face, whether in your family, your health, or your relationships. As He did for Mary, God granted her favor to become the mother of Jesus. God’s plan for her life was infinitely greater than she had ever imagined.
God can grant this kind of favor at any time and to any person. Psalm 5:12For you bless the godly, O Lord; you surround them with your shield of love. [3] His favor provides us with protection and blessing as we please Him.
