God sends messengers into your life because He loves you and wants you to fulfill His plans for you. Each time the Lord sends a messenger into your life, He intervenes in your life. Think about the significant spiritual messengers God has sent into your life and the timing of each. How did they affect you?
When I was ten years old, we had a young man who became our pastor. He would bring a renewed spirit to the church that had a significant impact on me and others spiritually. I did not realize how important this person was until I was an adult. The Lord brings messengers to us as gifts on our stage of life.
God sent John the Baptist as His Messenger
God wanted to prepare the hearts of the people before Jesus began His ministry. To do this, the Lord sent John the Baptist to the people of Israel. John the Baptist proclaimed the news of the coming of the Messiah and called the people to prepare themselves through repentance. Baptisms demonstrated repentance.
Mark 1:It began 2 just as the prophet Isaiah had written: “Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, and he will prepare your way. 3 He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!’ ” 4 This messenger was John the Baptist. He was in the wilderness and preached that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven.[1]
God’s Messengers are Preparing Hearts Today
God purposely sends messengers into your life to prepare the way for the more profound things God has for you. The first part of our journey with the Lord is to become a person of faith. The owners of an apple orchard shared their faith with an unbelieving apple picker. This Christian family told about the love of Jesus several times before he asked Jesus to be his Savior. They were God’s special messengers who brought the Good News of Jesus, and it changed the apple picker’s life. Their continued witness prepared the way for Jesus.
God Sends His Messengers at Just the Right Time
Just as John the Baptist came at just the right time, the Lord sends messengers into your life just at the right time. As we become people of faith, the Lord sends other messengers into our lives to help us in our next steps.
After the pastor of my childhood, another messenger came into my life and taught me how to pray for healing for others. Look around you. Who has the Lord brought to you right now?
