Jesus came to save. This is the heart of Father as He sent His Son to this earth. Before Jesus was born, the angel Gabriel told Joseph the child’s name, and the name was the mission. Matthew 1:21And Mary will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” [1]
Can you imagine the zeal Jesus had during His ministry to save people and bring them into a relationship with Him? Scripture paints a picture of Jesus’ urgency to preach the good news. Mark 1:38 But Jesus replied, “We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.” 39 So he traveled throughout the region of Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and casting out demons. [2]
What Does Jesus Save Us From?
There will come a day when we take our last breath and enter eternity. If you have placed your faith in Jesus as your Savior, God will welcome you to heaven. If you have not, you will depart into hell forever. What does the Bible tell us about hell?
2 Thessalonians 1:9 They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.”[3]
Matthew 25:41 “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.[4]
The thought of spending eternity in hell is hard to comprehend. This is not God’s plan for anyone, and that is why He came to this earth to save souls. He came to save us by dying on the cross for our sins so we could have an opportunity to place our faith in Him. Jesus wants all people to receive salvation! John 3: 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.[5]
Heaven Awaits Believers in Jesus
What does the Bible tell us about heaven? 1 Corinthians 2:9 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” [6] The Lord tells us that you can’t imagine how good heaven will be. That is amazing. The best part of heaven will be living with our Savior Jesus forever and all the angels and fellow believers. This is truly a gift from the Lord when we place our faith in Jesus!
