Jesus wants to pour into you! Let that sink in for a moment. The King of Kings, the God of the universe wants to pour into your life. The Lord begins to pour into us as He draws us to faith by preparing our hearts to receive Him.
Our Lord is like a gardener who continually works in our life so we can fulfill the plans He has for us. God wants to meet with each of us no matter where we are on our faith journey. Sometimes we think God only wants to meet with people who have their act together. I think if we are honest with ourselves, no one has their act together. We all have hurts, difficulties and areas in our life that need to be changed. The good news is the Lord loves us despite our warts.
Jesus Pours into People Along the Sea of Galilee
Mark 4:1Once again Jesus began teaching by the lakeshore. A very large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat in the boat while all the people remained on the shore. 2 He taught them by telling many stories in the form of parables. [1]
Jesus began to teach the people who are in different stages along their spiritual journey. Some have hearts as hard as rocks and won’t receive anything Jesus tells them, while others are taking in His words like water to a thirsty traveler. Jesus does not give up because some people will not receive His words. He does not give up on you either.
Jesus Fills our Glass
Sometimes Jesus pours into us at the most unexpected times. Perhaps you have received an unexpected Biblical teaching that addresses the exact situation you were dealing with. I have had this happen many times. When this happens, it is not an accident, but God pouring into you at just the right time. I have always found these divine interventions to be faith building.
As Jesus fills our glass to overflowing, we now have an opportunity to pour into another person. Who is the Lord putting on your mind to pour into? I could pour into someone by praying for or encouraging them. Or the Lord may suggest another way to you.
The Lord loves to fill us up so we can fill others. John 7:37On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! 38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart. [2] Letting Jesus pour into us is an act of free will as we respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Tell Jesus you want to receive! Let Him pour into you like never before. Take time today and give thanks to Jesus for pouring into you. Remember, Jesus gives refills!
