The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Who you think Jesus is matters because it will determine your eternal destiny. One day you will die and be ushered into eternity. Some believe everyone goes to heaven, but that is not what the Bible says. Jesus tells us in John 3:16 For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.[1]

A friend meant a man who did not think knowing Jesus as his Savior was vital until he came face to face with death. The man was a plumber who worked for a Christian. His boss shared about Jesus, but the worker was uninterested in Jesus. Even so but the owner continued to be kind to his employee. To throw him a lifeline, the owner told him, “If you get in trouble, call on the name of Jesus.”

The plumber had heart failure and was rushed to the hospital sometime later. There the man died and went to hell but was revived. Then he died a second time and went to hell again. After the second time resuscitation, he called out to Jesus from his heart, and Jesus appeared in a ball of light by his bed. Then he died a third time and went to heaven briefly before being revived a third time. This is how Jesus became His Savior six months before speaking with my friend.

Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God

Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” 15 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” [2]

Peter was a simple fisherman who Jesus called to be one of His disciples, but he was also a person of faith. Scripture tells us that faith is trust in God’s promises and not figuring things out using our reason.  Hebrews 11:1 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.[3] Jesus told Peter the Heavenly Father enabled him to know who He was.

Is Jesus Your Savior?

Nothing is more important than responding to the Lord’s call to become a believer in Jesus. If you have taken that step of faith, you are blessed. If you don’t know Jesus, He is calling you today.

Prayer of Salvation

Lord Jesus, for too long, I’ve kept you out of my life. I know I am a sinner and cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith, I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen. [4]
