The Lord gives us revelation, which is a blessing and indicates the Lord is at work in our lives. It also tells us that the Lord loves us and wants to help us along our faith journey. Are you struggling and need the Lord’s insight and guidance?
As we seek the Lord, He hears our prayers and guides us in ways we don’t expect. When our oldest daughter was looking for a college, we visited several campuses to see which would be the best. On one visit, the Lord intervened through the Holy Spirit, telling my wife, daughter, and me that this was a no. In addition, it is not uncommon for someone to be reading the Bible, and the Lord highlights a word or verse you have read, but He gives new insight. The Lord speaks to us through His word, the Holy Spirit, circumstances, prayer, other people, and other ways He may choose.
The Lord Gives Peter Revelation
Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” 15 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon, son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.[1]
Peter knew who Jesus was because He was listening to God’s voice. Jesus tells us in John 10:27, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”[2] The good news is that listening to God’s voice is available for every believer seeking the Lord.
Being Open to Receiving Revelation
Desiring greater insight from the Lord and being open to listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit is life-changing. If a verse of Scripture speaks to you uniquely, take time to read it several times and meditate on it to gain further insight. In James 1:5, the Lord tells us to ask for wisdom, and He will give it to us. As we ask the Lord, take time to be quiet and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God! [3] As the Lord gives you guidance and revelation, take a step of faith and put what the Lord is telling you into action.
