Jesus frees us from our sins. This is a blessing because it changes our direction in life when we come to faith. During World War II, one of my relatives was a prisoner of war and was overjoyed when he was freed. Although he had been a prisoner, his greatest gift came years earlier when he came to know Jesus as His Savior, freeing him from his sins.
Jesus came into this world on a rescue mission to save humanity from their sins. To rescue someone shows how valuable we are to God and how much He loves us. Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. [1] To redeem to buy back, which Jesus did through his death and resurrection.
God Makes Us Right in His Sight
Are you struggling today? If we are honest, we all struggle with different weaknesses our enemy satan exploits to tear us down. The good news is Jesus came to set us free from our sins. Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.[2]
There is not a person on earth who has not sinned, but through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we can be forgiven when we place our faith in Him. We sin daily, but the Lord forgives us as we confess our sins. The gift of salvation is truly the most beautiful gift we could ever receive.
True Freedom Through Jesus Christ
With God’s help, we can follow His desires and plans for our daily life and experience true freedom. Isaiah 55:8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” [3]
No matter what you are dealing with today, remember Jesus gives us freedom from sin and death. The gift of faith is so fantastic that it is hard for us to comprehend how wonderful and life-changing it is. As we are transformed, good habits become the norm as we put on the new life in Christ.
