The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The gift of great faith in action can make a significant impact in leading others to take steps of faith they did not think were possible. Someone with this gift expects the Lord to move in significant ways and is not surprised when God performs a miracle and answers prayer. The gift of great faith should not be confused with faith which every believer in Jesus has.

While doing an outside crusade in Central America, a tremendous downpour of rain started, causing people to leave. Having great faith, our speaker led the stadium in prayer for the Lord to stop the rain. After the prayer, a warm wind swept into the stadium, and the rain stopped allowing him to continue telling others about Jesus. After seeing an example of great faith, many came forward to receive Christ. God was generous, and many received healing as they were prayed for.

People of Great Faith are Like Spiritual Fire Starters

People of great faith are like good teachers. They see the potential in others and encourage them to do things they did not think were possible. Perhaps the Lord is opening your eyes to do something in the Kingdom of God. This may seems impossible in the natural. The Lord may be stirring your heart to take steps forward and give you an extra measure of faith. 1 Corinthians 12: The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else, the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.[1] You may not know that you have the gift of great faith until a circumstance arises that requires great faith to move forward.

Martin Luther King Junior once said, “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”[2]

Do You Have Great Faith?

As believers, we all have faith, but you may have great faith and not even realize it. Our gifts can often lay dormant until a circumstance causes us to take steps of faith we would have thought were impossible. Noah didn’t know he would have great faith to build an Ark until God asked. Paul went on three great missionary journeys that would have seemed beyond him as a young believer. Mary probably considered herself an ordinary young woman when the angel Gabriel visited her and told her she would give birth to the Messiah.

nly the Lord knows what we can do and gives us the gifts to carry out His purposes. Whether you have great faith or simple faith will never lessen the Lord’s love for you or change His plans for your life. Be open to the Lord’s leading and place your confidence in what the Lord can do through you, not what you can do on your own. With God on our side, He will strengthen our faith for the journey ahead, no matter where it leads. To learn more about the gift of faith, listen here:
