The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The power of miracles is seen throughout the ministry of Jesus and after His resurrection in the New Testament. 1 Corinthians 12:10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy.[1]When someone experiences a miracle or sees one, it strengthens their faith and points to the power and love of God for His people. I had ongoing arthritis several years ago in two fingers until several people from our church prayed over them. Those praying and I were incredibly blessed as we saw the Lord at work before us.

Miracles Show Us God Cares For Us

Peter and John encountered a beggar at the temple gate who received much more than money. Acts 3:The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them. [2]

This man first praised the Lord for healing him by walking and leaping. God did a miracle in this man’s physical life and changed his spiritual life.

Is Anything Too Hard for God?

It is always good to read God’s word about supernatural events and remember that the Lord is a God of miracles. Sometimes we need to reflect on the words of Jeremiah the prophet. Jeremiah 32:17 O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! [3]

When we believe God’s word, we can be confident that all things are possible. Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God, everything is possible.” [4]  The experience of a miracle often softens hearts toward God. Then, people realize that God is real and wants a personal relationship. While miracles are wonderful, the more significant part of the miracle is when people grow in faith. God’s love touches even the most hardened hearts when they experience personal miracles.   To learn more about the power of miracles, listen here:
