The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

People were drawn to Jesus as He preached along the Sea of Galilee. They left their towns and villages to go out to the shore to listen. Why were people drawn to Jesus? Could that still happen today?

People were drawn to Jesus because God was at work. God still works to draw people to Jesus today. Many are drawn without even understanding why. They may sense an emptiness in their life and are searching for more. Simple curiosity may cause some to listen to the Word of God and many are surprised at the power of the Scriptures.

How did Jesus draw you to Himself? John 6:43 But Jesus replied, “Stop complaining about what I said. 44 For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up. 45 As it is written in the Scriptures, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.[1]

People may show up to listen to Jesus for a variety of reasons, but it is the Father who draws a person to faith. One of my friends went to an Easter worship service several years ago just to satisfy his wife. He did not believe there was a God, but during the worship service God drew him to faith. He placed his faith in Jesus and his life has not been the same since.

Paul writes in Romans 10:17, “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. [2] The Lord draws you to Himself supernaturally. It is His grace that draws you to faith. As believers in Jesus we need to give the Lord 100% of the credit for drawing us to faith. Praise the Lord.
