The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Walking by faith means living my daily life believing the Lord’s promises. It means reading the Bible and trusting the Lord to guide your daily decisions and relationships. The world tells you to depend on yourself, but the Lord says to look to Him for guidance, wisdom, encouragement, and peace. 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.”[1]

Children begin to walk when they are about a year old, beginning a new chapter in their lives. Similarly, when believers walk by faith, it begins a new chapter of their faith life. When I walk by faith, I give up trying to figure everything out myself and instead rely on the Lord even when it does not make sense. For God’s plan to unfold in our lives, walking by faith is the essential step that moves us from following our dreams to following the Lord’s plans.

The Prophets Walked by Faith

The first step of walking in faith is trusting Jesus and not trying to figure everything out. 1 Peter 1:9The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. [2] Trusting the Lord and faith are connected. The prophets wrote about the coming of the Messiah, although they did not fully grasp what God was writing through them.

1 Peter 1:10 This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. 11 They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward. 12 They were told that their messages were not for themselves but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen. [3]

God’s Timing

At the right time, God unfolds His plan for our lives and gives us understanding. The prophets and the angels did not fully comprehend God’s plan of salvation in the Old Testament era. God’s revelation in our lives is ongoing, and we will only see and understand some things in eternity.

In the New Testament era, God revealed His plan of salvation that began when Jesus came into this world. When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, the enemy thought he had won a great victory, only to discover His death and resurrection was his defeat. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has made way for those who place their faith in Him to be saved.
