Have you ever considered the danger of being separated from Jesus? This is not something I want to dwell on too much because of its eternal consequences. Sadly, people are walking around in fog, unaware of the danger they face by not believing in Jesus as their Savior. How about you? Do you know Jesus as your Savior? If not, He is only a prayer away if you confess your sins and believe in Him as your Savior.
Jesus gives us a warning. John 15:6Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.[1] Jesus spoke these words the day before He was crucified. Among the disciples was Judas Iscariot, who would betray Him. Judas appeared to be a believer in Jesus, but was only fooling himself. Judas was like a dead branch that is thrown into the fire because he did not believe.
Earlier in His ministry, Jesus gave this dire warning. John 6:64 But some of you do not believe me.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning which ones didn’t believe, and he knew who would betray him.) [2] Life is as fleeting as vapor or a flower’s life, and we shouldn’t chase after the world and miss the most crucial thing in life—staying connected to Jesus.
Heaven is the Home for All Believers.
Those who are separated from Jesus face judgment and hell when they enter eternity, but believers will enter heaven. Additionally, followers of Jesus will join God’s angels and fellow believers. They will walk the streets of gold and experience the majesty of Christ.
The Apostle John provides a brief overview of heaven. Revelation 21:3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. [3]
As wonderful as heaven sounds from reading the Bible, it is only a glimpse of what God has for us. Paul says it best. 1 Corinthians 2:9No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. [4] We have great imaginations, but no matter how much we dream, heaven will be even better.
Take Jesus’ Warning Seriously
A friend I know radiates with the love of Jesus as he shares the Gospel, but his life wasn’t always like that. As a child, he had been to church, but drifted away from God as an adult. He got involved in selling illegal drugs and was shot and left for dead in an abandoned building. Lying there for three days, he believed he would die. During that time, he called out to Jesus. Not only was he discovered and recovered from his wounds, but he also came to Jesus as His Savior.
In his testimony, he described how he was nearly thrown into the fire because he was not connected to Jesus. In His mercy and compassion, God rescued him. Part of his message is about the danger of separation from Jesus. To learn more, listen here:
