The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Being rescued to be holy is a privilege we shouldn’t take for granted but should put into action. Have you ever been in a situation where you needed rescue? This experience is unforgettable. I remember getting lost at a local fair when I was six, and my uncle came to my rescue. Although this was wonderful, it pales in comparison to what Jesus did.

When Jesus came to earth and died for our sins on the cross, it was to rescue us. When we respond to the work of the Holy Spirit and put our faith in Jesus, it transforms our lives. 2 Corinthians 5:15He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. [1] As believers in Jesus, He rescued us to be holy. Holy means dedicated, set apart, or devoted to the service of God.[2]

Jesus Came So We Could Serve God

When Zechariah, Elizabeth, and their family gathered for John’s circumcision, something remarkable happened. Zechariah’s muteness ended as he wrote John’s name on the tablet. The Holy Spirit filled him and gave a prophecy about the coming Messiah. Luke 1:74 We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, 75 in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live. [3]

The world calls us to focus on ourselves, but this is not God’s plan for our lives. Jesus has rescued us for a purpose. God’s plan is for us to serve Him and build His Kingdom, and this is where true satisfaction in life comes from.

Our service has an impact on our witness, creating a ripple that lasts into eternity, even if we don’t always see it. Your efforts, driven by godly motives, make a difference in ways you might not immediately notice. While the victory might not be visible right now, often, as we enter eternity, we see how our service has created a lasting impact — sometimes shaping entire generations of people.

Serving God Changes Us

Never forget, when we serve others, we are also serving God. Just as John the Baptist was set apart to be holy, we are too! As John impacted many through his witness, we can do the same as the Lord works through us. This beautiful teaching reminds us that the person we truly serve through helping others is God Himself.

A life lived for God is dedicated to Him alone. Serving others with the right intentions brings glory to God. What’s truly remarkable is how this kind of service changes us — you and me. As we serve God, our hearts grow softer, our perspective on others’ struggles deepens, and we start to see people just as God does.

Our hearts become more like God’s, and as we serve, He continually transforms us into greater versions of ourselves. Each day gives us a fresh chance to serve and love others. To emulate Jesus is to serve with kindness and compassion, and the ripple of this love echoes into eternity. We are rescued to be holy. To learn more, listen here:
