The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Ephesians 2:8-10

If I was to play the English game called Cricket, I would be totally lost. I would not know what the rules are or the purpose of the game. How many on a team? How long is the game? I see the instruments I have to play the game with. Next I will make up my own rules and decide what success and and failure is. In the end my modified game would look nothing like what was intended.

Many people go through life like that. They don’t know why they are on this earth. They don’t know that Jesus died for their sins. They don’t know that God has a purpose and a plan for their very existence. Because they don’t know people begin to make up their our own rules. Success is all about how much stuff you have. Winning the game is all about you and that is all that counts.

When Jeremiah was sent by God to be a prophet to His people most people were lost spiritually. They were making up their own rules. In God’s mercy he sent the Prophet Jeremiah to call the people back to God. God does the same thing in the world in which we live. The Lord sends the Holy Spirit to draw people to himself. God sends His children out to tell others about the good news of Jesus.

The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 2:8-10, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” [1]

How about you? Is the Lord showing you what your life is really about? Is the Lord calling you into a deeper relationship with Him? Don’t go through life thinking you know what your purpose is. Take time to seek the Lord. He is waiting for your prayers.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”  [2]
