Psalm 34: 4 Listen to my testimony: I cried to God in my distress and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears!
5 Gaze upon him, join your life with his, and joy will come. Your faces will glisten with glory. You’ll never wear that shame-face again.
6 When I had nothing, desperate and defeated, I cried out to the Lord and he heard me, bringing his miracle-deliverance when I needed it most.[1]
When David is afraid, he can trust the Lord. When we are afraid, we can trust the Lord. The word trust and faith are very similar. It says in Hebrews 11:1 –Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen. We can trust the Lord even when things don’t look good, even in the midst of this crazy pandemic situation.
Psalm 23: 4 Lord, even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.[2] In order to trust God, we must be led by the Holy Spirit. Paul writes in Romans 8: 14 The mature children of God are those[a] who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit.[3]
It is only the Lord who can guide us in difficult times. Psalm 119: 105 Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your word makes my pathway clear.[4]
God can deliver us from our fear, just like He delivered David. To hear more, listen here: https://podpoint.com/light-of-christ-church-podcast/series/david-and-his-songs-the-early-years/keep-your-eyes-on-the-lord
