I have been fortunate to see people who were miraculous healed by the Lord. I remember one young woman in Honduras whose eyesight was healed. Her eyesight was so poor that even with glasses she was unable to read a ten-inch diameter clock from twenty feet. After we prayed, she was able to read the clock without glasses. She had faith in God to do the miraculous.
The Lord was moving in an incredible way that day. It was a faith building day for both those that were praying and those that were prayed for. It was a day that brought Scripture to reality. James 5:16 The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
Sarah’s Faith for the Miraculous
The writer of Hebrews in the New Testament writes about Sarah’s faith to have a child in her old age. Hebrews 11:11 It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. 12 And so a whole nation came from this one man who was as good as dead—a nation with so many people that, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.
When Abraham was 75, the Lord came to him and promised that he and his wife, Sarah, would have a child. They had to wait 25 long years for this to come true. As they were approaching 100 years of age, only a miracle would give them a child. Despite earlier doubts, Sarah stepped out in faith and believed God for a son.
Other stories of Miracles
The Lord has given us many examples of miracles to strengthen our faith and to help us to look to Him in times of trouble. God parted the Red Sea so the nation could cross on dry ground (Exodus 14). He feed the Israelites with bread or manna from heaven for 40 years (Exodus 16). The walls of Jericho fell (Joshua 6). The Gospels record many miracles of Jesus.
Do You Need a Miracle?
Do you have faith in God to do the miraculous? Perhaps you need healing, it could be physical, emotional or relational. The Lord asked Sarah in Genesis 18: 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? It was a rhetorical question, and the answer is, nothing is too hard for the Lord.
Although God answers our prayers it may not be in the way we desire. I prayed my father would be healed of cancer but at 75 he was healed the hour he went to heaven. God is the God of the Miraculous and is also the working in a way we may not understand this side of eternity. We must simply trust that the Lord’s ways are best. Where is the Lord calling you today to trust Him for the miraculous?
Father, I come to you today with faith so small I cannot see a way. I want to believe you are able to do more than I ever imagine. I want to walk by faith and not by sight. God, please bring a miracle into my life. I know that you can do the impossible in my life and I am trusting in your promises. Thank you for being a God who sees and hears my every need. In Jesus’ name, amen.
