The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Daily Bible Verse | Grace | Luke 15:20

Will God take me back? People throughout the centuries have sincerely asked God this question. Maybe you are at that place now and are searching for that answer. Perhaps you were there in the past and thought you were beyond hope. The Lord can still pick you up like a lost sheep and bring you back to safety.

Our enemy satan tells people each day they are not worthy to come back to God. He tells people that their sin is too great  and they are beyond forgiveness. We also know this about satan. John 8:44For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.[1] Yes, the enemy lies when he tells people they cannot come back to God.

Don’t believe the lie of the enemy! We will never be too far from God’s love. Now is the time to turn back to God. There is nothing that can keep God from loving us and wanting to save us.  Romans 8:28And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. [2]

The Prodigal Son Came Back

The prodigal son wasted his father’s money on wild living but came to his senses during a time of desperation. He humbled himself and decided to return to his father.

Luke 15:18I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19 and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.” ’ 20 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.[3]

God Wants Us to Come Back to Live an Abundant Life

Today, you may find yourself stuck in a situation because of sin and disobedience, but all is not lost. God wants us to turn back to Him, He doesn’t want us to be lost and suffer eternal death. John 3:16For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.[4]

God wants us to live abundant lives and He is willing to give us victory if we are willing to turn back to Him. He wants to bring us to a place of peace and that only comes with a relationship with Him. All He is asking us is to repent of our sins and place our faith in Him. If you have not done that, will you turn back to God today?
