Have you experienced a time in your life of seeking the Lord? What caused you to seek the Lord? We read in Isaiah 55:6Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. What did the Lord reveal to you as you sought Him? How did that affect you? In our story the treasurer of Ethiopia was seeking the Lord because he did not understand the passage he was reading from God’s word. God responded by giving Philip supernatural guidance.
The Treasurer of Ethiopia was Seeking the Lord
Acts 8:26 As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah.
As We Seek the Lord, He Answers Us
As we seek the Lord, He answers us in different ways. He often answers us as we read His word, through another person, or insight by the Holy Spirit. Many times, as I do my daily devotions the Lord speaks to me and gives me understanding.
Jeremiah 29:13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. The Lord is easily found as we pray and seek Him because the Lord wants to be found. The Lord loves us and enjoys when we seek after him for guidance, direction, and wisdom.
Seeking the Lord is Growing in Our Relationship with Him
As we grow in faith, we desire to spend more time seeking the Lord. As we seek the Lord, we learn the importance of humbling ourselves before the Lord. It is then that we realize we don’t have the answers to our daily life, but He does. James 4:6 And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Thank you also Lord for the guidance found in Your word and the work of the Holy Spirit. Also, thank You for the people You have divinely placed in my life who speak holy truth, love and words of wisdom. Give me a heart of discernment to know when You are using someone to speak instruction into my heart and my circumstances and give me the strength and courage to follow through with that advice, even when it’s hard. Fill me with peace in knowing that even if I take a wrong turn, Your purpose will prevail. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
