The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Divine Direction - The Secret to Success II | Sermons

Over the centuries people have asked, “Does God give divine direction today?” Maybe you have asked this same question. The answer to that question is a resounding yes!  Hebrews 13:Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.[1] Throughout the Scriptures we see the Lord giving divine direction to Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jonah, Peter, Paul to name just a few. Perhaps you have received divine direction in your life.

Divine direction can take place as a result of prayer or by God just breaking into our life to fulfill His plans. I have experienced divine direction in my own life through prayer and God breaking into my life. How has the Lord given you divine direction? So, don’t be afraid to ask God for directions. James 1:5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.[2]

The Lord Gives Peter Divine Direction

The Lord gave Peter a vision, but he did not understand it. While he is asking what it means, the Holy Spirit breaks in and gives him divine direction.

Acts 10:17 Peter was very perplexed. What could the vision mean? Just then the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house. Standing outside the gate, 18 they asked if a man named Simon Peter was staying there. 19 Meanwhile, as Peter was puzzling over the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him, “Three men have come looking for you. 20 Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Don’t worry, for I have sent them.” 21 So Peter went down and said, “I’m the man you are looking for. Why have you come?” [3]

Asking for Divine Direction

There may come a day when you come to a fork in the road along your spiritual journey and you are not sure what you should do. The best way to take the correct road is simply to ask the Lord in persistent prayer. Hearing God’s guidance begins with our minds and hearts. The Bible reminds us, Psalm 46:10Be still, and know that I am God [4] as we listen for His leading.

The Lord may not answer us instantly, so we need to reply on His timing. But, we need to be patient as we seek the Lord.  As you seek God’s guidance for your actions, use the request found in Psalms to pray back to God. For example, Psalm 86:1Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you. [5] God can build up your life so that dependance on His leading is second nature! Does God give divine direction today? Find out here:
