The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

When we take faithful steps into the unknown, our confidence is in the faithful hand of God that guides us, not our destination. When Abram allowed Lot to pick what land he wanted for his flocks and herds, he trusted the Lord would work everything out. Moved by the rich plains of the Jordan Valley, Lot chose it, looking only at what his eyes could see and not God’s.

Genesis 13:14 After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. 15 I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession.”[1] Then, the Lord instructed Abram to survey the land, which was a call to action and a promise for his future inheritance. Genesis 13:17 Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you. [2]

This teaches us the connection between faith and the unknown. As believers, we should move forward even when we do not possess all the answers. Faith requires embracing uncertainty while relying on divine guidance and provision.

Step Forward in Faith

When God asked Abram to walk through the land physically, it was a way of embracing the promise. So, Abram took steps into the unknown. As believers, we are called to move forward in faith, claiming God’s promises even when the future is uncertain.

Some of the most inspiring people I have met are those who display great faith in their last hours. They are about to enter the unknown realm of eternity, yet they possess a peace that stems from a profound trust in God. My father’s last words to me were, “I am going to be fine.” The faith of others in trying times inspires us to move confidently, guided by God’s assurance and faithful presence.

There are times of uncertainty in our lives, but this can also be a time of growth as we let the Lord lead us through uncharted territories. Even when we don’t see the complete picture, God invites us to walk forward in faith, reassuring us that He is in control.

Set Up Worship Anchors

As Abram walked the land the Lord was giving him, he responded in heartfelt worship to the Lord. Genesis 13:18 So Abram moved his camp to Hebron and settled near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. There, he built another altar to the Lord. [3]

By building the altar, Abram not only worshiped God but also created a physical reminder of God’s promises and faithfulness. Taking time to worship and praise the Lord in response to His faithfulness instills in us a continuous need to be thankful. 1 Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. [4]
