The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Some people become fearful when they realize there is a supernatural realm. But we can be assured that nothing can separate us from God’s love. In Scripture, we see several examples of meetings in the supernatural realm overwhelming the human body.

When an angel brought a message to Daniel, he fainted. Daniel 10:9 Then I heard the man (the angel) speak, and when I heard the sound of his voice, I fainted and lay there with my face to the ground. 10 Just then a hand touched me and lifted me, still trembling, to my hands and knees.[1]

John was exiled on the island of Patmos when God gave him a vision of worship in heaven. Revelation 1: 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last.[2]

Insight into the Spiritual Realm

God created angels as His servants and gives them assignments to help believers. They may bring messages or protection. But then there are also fallen angels and satan who work against us. Paul warns us that they have schemes to deceive and lead us astray. There are battles in the spiritual realm. This information isn’t to frighten us but to make us aware of its existence. Forewarned is forearmed.

Fortunately, God has given us spiritual armor and the weapon of His Word to battle the evil realm (Ephesians 6:10-20). He also provides a great love which keeps us in Jesus. Romans 8:38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.[3]

No Reason to Worry

Even though we have the promise that nothing can separate us from God’s love, we may doubt in times of suffering. Paul also addresses this. Romans 8: 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?… 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. [4]

There are times we need to remember the great love Jesus showed us as He suffered on the cross to pay the price for our sin. Romans 8: 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?[5]

God often uses the difficulties of life to strengthen our faith. He knows that these are the times we must depend on Him even more. The enemy’s battle plans backfire. Our hard times can build our faith and trust in Him rather than driving us away from our Savior. There is nothing in the universe that has the power to separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus. To learn more, listen here:
