Unfortunately, turning away from Jesus is something people do every day. This is so sad. Jesus wants to save all. Luke 19:10For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. [1] Jesus desires salvation for all, but not everyone will repent of their sins and turn to Him.
The good news is the Lord is continually calling people to faith. Perhaps there was a time in your life when you turned away from the Lord but later responded to his call. One of my friends had been in church for several decades before he came to know Jesus. Don’t give up if you have a loved one who has turned away from the Lord. Keep praying because the prayers of believers are powerful. They are powerful not because of us but because of Jesus.
Jesus Freed a Man from Demon Possession
Jesus had delivered a man who was demon-possessed in the Gerasenes. As Jesus delivered this man, the demons begged to go into the nearby pigs.
Mark 5:13 So Jesus gave them permission. The evil spirits came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the entire herd of about 2,000 pigs plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water. 14 The herdsmen fled to the nearby town and the surrounding countryside, spreading the news as they ran. People rushed out to see what had happened. 15 A crowd soon gathered around Jesus, and they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons. He was sitting there fully clothed and perfectly sane, and they were all afraid. 16 Then those who had seen what happened told the others about the demon-possessed man and the pigs. 17 And the crowd began pleading with Jesus to go away and leave them alone. [2]
Will You Choose the World or Jesus?
The people knew what this man had been. Now they could see a miracle in the sane man. Why didn’t they embrace Jesus? The people valued their pigs more than they valued Jesus.
The Apostle Paul once turned away from Jesus because of his belief system but later came to know Him as his Savior. Money often blinds people to the true riches of Christ. What value are pigs or all the world’s riches if you don’t know Jesus as your Savior?
Philippians 3:8Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. [3] What about you? Have you embraced Jesus as your Savior?
